Hello everyone! A little more than a year ago, I’ve made a short survey to hear about your experiences with nebulophilia. In this article, we’re going to look at the results of the multiple-choice part of the survey. To be clear: this won’t contain the answers to the open questions, as these will be posted in a separate article.
In the past year, I’ve received 15 responses in total. Thanks to everyone who took part in the survey! So let’s look at the answers:
According to the responses, 2 people are between the ages 19 to 29. The biggest group of people are between the ages of 30 to 39 and 40 to 49, each having 4 responses. The group aged 50 to 59 years counts 2 people, while 3 people have reported to be 60 or older.
The result of the gender question speaks for itself. The overwhelming majority in this survey identify as male, while 1 person is reported to be female. This confirms that nebulophilia is mainly a male-oriented interest.
According to this chart, 9 people identify as straight, while 3 people identify as gay. 3 people identify as other orientation, making the overall picture quite mixed. Pretty interesting!
The continent result reveals that 8 people live in Europe, while the rest of them (7 people) live in North America. Pretty logical, though it would’ve been interesting to see more continents involved in this interest.
I’ve also asked which situations within/related to nebulophilia are a turn-on, which is a multiple-choice question. According to the results, 9 people like watching diesel exhaust videos with black smoke, while 8 people report to liking seafoam/smoking exhaust videos. 8 people report to liking seeing people get smoked out. 4 people like seeing people dancing in smoke, and 2 people like watching light shows/concerts with smoke. 1 person likes watching steam train videos.
On the question of what properties are most enjoyable, 11 people find the smoke thickness and density to be the most enjoyable, with 2 people finding it just enjoyable. 1 person was neutral on the subject, and 1 doesn’t enjoy this aspect.
As for emission speed, 7 people found this the most enjoyable acpect, and 6 people found it enjoyable. Once again, 1 person was neutral, and 1 doesn’t enjoy this.
For hearing the smoke pump out, 8 people found this the most enjoyable aspect, with 4 people enjoying it. 1 person is neutral, and 2 people don’t enjoy it.
Fog fluid smell is found the most enjoyable for 5 people, and 4 people find this just enjoyable. 1 person is neutral, and 5 people don’t like it.
For inhaling the smoke, 9 people find this to be the most enjoyable aspect, with 1 finding it just enjoyable. 1 is neutral, and 4 people don’t enjoy this one.
11 people have reported to find standing or lying in the smoke to be the most enjoyable. 2 people find this enjoyable, with 1 being neutral and 1 not enjoying this aspect.
9 people reported not owning a fog machine. 5 people do own one, and 1 person reported not owning one, but liking to have one.
10 people reported to have an exhaust fetish, and 9 people reported to have a smoking fetish. 2 people reported having mechanophilia, and 2 people have pedal pumping fetish.
Conclusion
The results gathered by this survey were quite insightful. Many people who are into nebulophilia, seem to be mainly interested in exhaust smoke. A small subset seems to be interested in fog machines, and some seem to be interested in seeing people vape.
This shows that even though people are interested in the same general subject (in this case, nebulophilia), the taste within the subject can vastly differ. It’s really interesting that a person who’s into exhaust smoke, would not be attracted by smoke from fog machines (or the other way around).
Also, the survey proves that even if you think you’re pretty much the only one out there with a certain fetish, this is most likely not true. Even if this is something seemingly niche, there will most likely be someone with the same interest.
In the next article, I’ll post the answers to the open questions. These will contain the answers by people who have given the permission to do so. Hope to see you soon!
