Hey there! In my website progress report, I announced that I was working on getting the Chat and Contact page up and running, which would hopefully be up the week after it was posted. But that was on February 22, and… well, it took a little bit longer than I expected. Oops I guess!

So now we’re here, and while working on some other projects I finally found some time to devote on which chat application will be used for the chat room. I’ll spare you the boring details, but after testing, my preference went out to Guilded. It’s like Discord, except on steroids. What steroids, I hear you ask? Well, glad you did:

• Threads, which keeps the chat clean when you want to respond to a particular message;
• Calendars which respond to the time zone you’re in (which might come in handy eventually);
• Media channels, which allow you to share media from YouTube or local files on your computer (pretty big deal for something like this website);
• Forums. Yes, literally a forum inside of your chat channel;
• Some other cool goodies.

I really hope it’ll work out, as the feature set is pretty great. But I realize that the service is still relatively new, so if there’s any deal-breaking bugs in the application, please let me know and I’ll look for alternatives if needed.
